Message from the Headteacher
This week school has welcomed some different but all equally inspiring guests: workshop facilitators Inspiring Choices, a contemporary textile artist and our local MP.
Inspiring Choices came in to school to deliver some study skills workshops. We hope students found these useful.
Our Year 10 textile students and Sewing Bee club had the privilege of being taught by Jessica Grady, a celebrated contemporary embroidery artist and sustainability champion. Students really enjoyed the experience and as you can see students produced some wonderful creations. Also, a group of textile students visited the infamous Harrogate annual show, Knit and Stitch today. We look forward to hearing all about it.
Also today, students had the opportunity to meet our MP, Tom Gordon. He met with student leaders and the journalists of student newspaper "The Purple Press." During an interview, our young reporters asked Mr. Gordon about his life as an MP, his journey into politics, and the responsibilities that come with public service. Student leaders then put forward thoughtful, and at times challenging, questions about issues facing the local community, ranging from youth services to sustainability and town development.
Mr. Gordon praised the students for their professionalism, insight, and confidence. Special praise to the following students for welcoming and interviewing him so professionally.
Anushka, Tyra, Daniel, Sophie, Jonny, Mikalya, Jun, Izzy, Archie, Danielle and Grace.
At HHS we know the benefit students gain from us welcoming guests into school. It broadens students’ horizons and provides an important perspective into professional life.
We are delighted to inform you that Aspens, our caterers were inspected this week and received a 5 out of 5 National Food Hygiene Rating. Thank you to them for everything they do to provide a great service for our students.
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
