Headteacher's welcome
As the Headteacher, I am proud to lead Harrogate High School in its journey of continual improvement and work alongside a team of passionate and dedicated staff to provide an excellent learning environment for our students.
We are proud of our CARES Values which underpin our “Learning First” motto and are at the heart of Harrogate High School. We provide dynamic, challenging and engaging learning opportunities in order to raise achievement and thereby improve our students’ life chances, truly upholding our values of “Courage” and “Aspiration."
We believe that a high-quality education holds the power to transform lives. We serve our students with “Equality” so that they are all empowered to reach their full potential. High quality teaching, learning and leadership are fundamental to our success. By ‘embedding ambition’ in our students, we will enable our young people to lead a balanced life as adults, capable of contributing positively to their community.
Alongside our broad and balanced academic curriculum, we place great emphasis on providing a varied cultural experience, where students can explore a plethora of enrichment activities.
Positive relationships with “Respect” and “Self-control” are fundamental to our success. We value strong partnerships between students, parents, staff and the local community and encourage open lines of communication in order to work collectively as a school community to ensure the success of every child. Calendaring parent forums, student leadership and council meetings, coffee mornings, PTA events are essential to our community work and ensuring all students and their families feel a strong sense of belonging to the HHS community. The generosity of staff and their willingness to work with and for students, adds to the positive and caring ethos that permeates the school.
Our shared responsibility is to make sure that their ‘one chance’ of education is outstanding. We aim to develop our young people into confident, effective and responsible adults. We know that with excellent teaching, a supportive curricular structure and high-quality pastoral care, any student can achieve their aspirations, equipping them for a bright and prosperous future.
