Message from the Headteacher

Year 11 mock exams are coming to a close early next week. Well done to the students. We know this period can be challenging, and we are pleased with the focus and determination you have shown. Mock exams are an important step in preparing for the final GCSE examinations, and we encourage students to reflect on the feedback from teachers as they continue their preparation for the months ahead.

Our Textiles students welcomed a local farmer into school this week as part of the Trust “Farmers on Tour” initiative. The visit included an engaging workshop exploring wool and its journey from farm to fabric.

Students learnt about the natural properties of wool and the processes involved in preparing it for use, including how it is cleaned, combed and carded. They then took part in a hands-on session on dry needle felting, creating their own felt keyrings.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and the opportunity to hear directly from a farmer about the origins of wool made the session both informative and memorable.

It has been great to celebrate World Book Day in school. A big thank you goes to our English Department, in particular Mrs Rees, for organising a fantastic series of engaging events and activities throughout the week. These events help promote a love of reading and encourage students to explore different books and authors.

Thank you to all staff and students who contributed to these positive experiences in our school community.
