Message from the Headteacher

PXL 20261001 170840801.MPIt was wonderful to welcome so many families and members of our community to our Open Evening last night. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped spread the word and encouraged families to attend.

The evening was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our school, meet prospective families and give them a real insight into what life at our school is all about.

PXL 20261001 171753735A huge thank you to my staff team and our students, and to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a success.

A particular mention must go to Archie and April, our Head and Deputy Students, who gave heartfelt speeches and delivered them so eloquently. Also, the students in the "School of Rock" who performed. We are incredibly proud of them all.

As part of the evening, we gifted every prospective family a packet of wildflower seeds with their prospectus. These seeds represent the CARES values at the heart of our school and the care, nurture and support we provide to every student.

Just as a seed needs the right conditions, care and encouragement to grow, our students are given the support they need to flourish, develop their strengths and reach their full potential.

We hope each packet is sown and that the wildflowers will not only provide a beautiful reminder of our school, but also offer essential food and shelter for declining pollinator populations, including bees and butterflies.

We are incredibly proud to be part of Northern Star Academies Trust, which was awarded the national Environmental Trust of the Year 2026 award,  an outstanding achievement that our whole NSAT family is very proud of.

So, while it may have been a little packet of seeds, it carried a big and important CARES message: with the right care, nurture and support, we can all grow and flourish.

Our Year 8 students completed their school residential at Newby Wiske this week. We have heard they had a fantastic experience and created lots of positive memories along the way. A huge thank you to all the staff who organised the trip and accompanied our students. Their time, care and commitment made the residential possible and are very much appreciated.

Please continue to tell friends and family your positive experiences about our school.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Mr Gill
Head of Academy
