Remote learning

The Home-School Agreement, based on our CARES values and developed alongside our students, outlines our values and expectations at Harrogate High School. It consists of a student charter, a staff pledge and a parent/carer pledge. It is important that all parties uphold their agreement to ensure ‘Learning First’ is achieved. 

 

 

  Rights Repsonsibilities
Students
  • To be appropriately challenged and supported by staff to learn effectively.
  • To ask questions and get help when we don’t understand. 
  • To be supported to access all aspects of school life and to be given a breadth of opportunities.
  • To take responsibility for our own learning, sometimes taking risks and coming out of our comfort zone.
  • To take opportunities wherever we can
  • To try our hardest and work to the best of our ability. 

Staff
  • We show courage, never giving up, to serve our school so that our students are always learning first.
  • We continually learn so we can educate our students in the best way possible to matter what our role.

Parents Carers
I will ensure: 
  1. That I work with school to address any barriers to learning.  
  2. That I will encourage my child to take responsibility for their own learning and push themselves to work to the best of their ability

Students
  • To develop our knowledge and skills to be the best version of ourselves.  
  • To gain the knowledge and skills to take the next steps on our life journey successfully. 
  • To show good or outstanding commitment to learning. 
  • To take opportunities to try new things and develop interests. 
  • To set our own goals with support from staff

Staff We work hard every day to make sure the dreams and career aspirations of our students and staff can become reality

Parents Carers
I will ensure: 
  1. That homework is completed on time, taking an interest in their learning, assisting where I can and letting school know of any support they may need. 
  2. That I encourage my child to read regularly at home. 
  3. That my child is fully engaged in their lessons and work.

Students
  • To be treated with respect. 
  • To be able to speak with a member of staff if we need support.  
  • To learn in a clean and well-presented school.  
  • To respect ourselves and others.  
  • To take good care of school property 
  • To know and understand school values and expectations  
  • To respect classroom and out-of-classroom rules. 
  • To ensure our school is represented positively in the wider community. 
  • To support and help others when we are in need.

Staff We work with respect and integrity, valuing others and treating them how we wish to be treated. We model this in to students in all our interactions to sustain a positive learning community.

Parents Carers
I will ensure: 
  1. That my child attends school regularly and is punctual.  
  2. I endeavour to participate, wherever possible, in any meetings that school requests I attend.  
  3. That I will read any communication from school.

  • To receive a quality education and to make progress with learning.  
  • To be treated equally and fairly. 
  • To be listened to and to have views and opinions considered. 
  • To treat others equally, fairly and with respect.  
  • To take opportunities to feed back constructively to staff.

Staff We embrace every member of our community however diverse or similar in nature, fostering equality. We value equity, ensuring that all our students can access their learning first and thrive in their education.

Parents Carers
I will ensure: 
  1. That my child wears the correct uniform and adheres to expectations regarding jewellery and piercings.  

  2. That my child is prepared for their learning with the correct equipment.

Students
  • To be supported and taught how to build good habits and to self-regulate.
  • To attend all lessons, tutor time, assemblies, and interventions on time. 
  • To follow staff instructions. 
  • To be prepared for lessons with all necessary equipment. 
  • To manage time well.  
  • To complete homework on time and to the best of our ability. 
  • To learn from mistakes.  
  • To read regularly to support our literacy

Staff We show self-control in all situations enabling us to support our students in managing their behaviours, nurturing them so they can put their learning first and be successful.  

Parents Carers
I will ensure: 
  1. That I will contact school directly if there is anything I wish to discuss, and be mindful that social media is not an appropriate platform for airing views or grievances.  

  2. That I will communicate respectfully to all school staff.
