| Curriculum Intent | At Harrogate High School, the Technology curriculum empowers students to become creative, resilient and responsible learners who can confidently apply practical skills and theoretical knowledge to real-world contexts. Through the study of Textiles, Food and Workshop (Design and Make), students develop a strong understanding of how design, materials, tools and processes shape the world around them. Our intent is to provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that equips all students with essential life skills alongside a solid foundation for further study and future careers in creative, technical and vocational pathways. We aim to inspire curiosity, innovation and problem-solving by encouraging students to design, make and evaluate products that meet genuine needs, considering functionality, aesthetics, sustainability and user requirements. |

| Links to British Values | Students often work in teams where theyâ¯vote on design ideas, share roles, and make group decisions. Students learn aboutâ¯health and safety regulations, product standards, and environmental laws that govern design and manufacturing. They explore how technology canâ¯empower individuals, such as assistive devices for people with disabilities or sustainable solutions for communities. They learn to appreciate different design perspectives and how diverse contributions lead to better outcomes. Students explore how design can beâ¯inclusive of different cultures and beliefs, such as designing products for diverse users or considering religious customs in food technology.
